Hello students and parents,
I am Ms. Amelia Brown, and this is my 9th year at Paloma Valley High School. I taught at Pinacate Middle School prior to becoming a Wildcat, and before that I taught part time at RCC and Julian Charter School. In addition to teaching, I have two young adults of my own, both graduates of Paloma Valley High School.
I have always enjoyed learning new things, and this is very obvious from the number of years I personally spent as a student. Originally from Michigan, I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Performance and English from Western Michigan University. After moving to California, I studied at San Diego State University and earned a Master's Degree in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Writing. Later, I attended National University to earn a Master's Degree in Teaching.
This year I am teaching Advanced English 2 (10th grade), and for my first time, I am teaching Advanced English 1 (9th grade). My favorite part about being a teacher is getting to know about my students so that I can help them in every way possible, so please never feel embarrassed about asking a question or not understanding something. It is my job to make learning accessible, fun, and relevant!
I will be using Canvas as our learning platform, so please check CANVAS daily and go there at the beginning of our class period everyday. I hope to make things as clear and easy to navigate as possible for you. Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.
